Research Statement: Nora Gordon's research interests lie broadly in the fields of the economics of education and public economics. She is interested in how school districts respond to state and federal attempts to change their policies and practices through legislation, judicial intervention, and financial incentives. Particular education policy applications she has studied in the past include Title I, school district consolidation, and state school finance equalizations. Her current work includes a project on the importance of federal grants and regulations in school desegregation, and one on how schools and districts choose private providers as contractors for comprehensive school reform services.
