After Returning from Abroad
Upon your return, you will need to petition the courses you took abroad in order to receive academic credit toward major or minor requirements.
- Wait until your coursework posts to your Academic History on TritonLink before beginning the petition process (this could take up to three months!).
- Once the courses post, you will need to complete an Undergraduate Student Petition for each course you want to apply toward your Econ Program.
- On each petition write the course # (as it appears on TritonLink), course title, EAP or OAP, quarter/semester you took the course, attach all coursework (i.e. syllabus, exams, and papers.)
- Submit to the Economics Advising Office during drop in advising hours.
- We will contact you via your UCSD e-mail account in 1-2 weeks to inform you of the final outcome.
Don't forget to pick-up your petitions and coursework once you have been notified of the decision!
Also, please be aware that there is a residency requirement for Economics Department majors. To receive a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree from the economics department, all students must pass with a C- (C minus) or better at least nine of the required upper-division courses (at least four units each) for the major, taken through the UCSD economics department, while officially enrolled at UCSD, to satisfy the residency requirement.
