TritonEd and CAPE

TritonEd vs CAPE Survey in 19 Summer Session 1 Classes in 2017

For a subset of courses in the Economics Department, this table compares CAPE results with the results from an identical survey administered in TritonEd.  Note more students completed the TritonEd survey than the CAPEs because students who completed the TritonEd survey were able to view their course grade earlier than those who did not complete the survey.

  1. The “Recommend Instructor” in TritonEd was 90.4% and in the CAPE was 89.4%.  This +.93% percentage point difference is not significant.
  2. The “Recommend Class” in TritonEd was 91.8% and in the CAPE was 87.8%.  This 3.9% percentage point difference is significant at the 4.7% level (one tailed test).
  3. The average response rate for the CAPE was 33.3% while the average response rate for TritonEd was 60.2% and this 26.9% percentage point difference is statistically significant at the 1% level.  It is possible that the TritonEd Survey depresses CAPE response rates.  Last summer session 1 the response rate was 41% (of course this is not the only explanation--there were some instructors last year that did not teach this year who had very high response rates).
