Welcome Seminar Speakers!

Thank you for agreeing to participate in our seminar series! We are happy to welcome you to our department and are looking forward to the intellectual stimulation and vitality your visit will bring to our department. As you may know, our department hosts 40+ seminars each quarter on disciplines such as Applied Micro Economics, Econometrics, Microeconomics Theory & Behaviorial Econoimcs, Macroeconomics and Internatioanl & Developmental Economics. This would be an impossible feat without volunteer speakers such as yourself.

As you prepare for your visit, please review and adhere to the detailed pre-visit guildelines and instructions. If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, please note that you willl also need to review and adhere to additional guidelines. Please keep in mind that you will be working closely with your Seminar Coordinator on scheduling, local arrangements and reimbursement issues. If you have any questions, please don't hestiate to contact your Seminar Coordinator who will serve as your primary point of contact for any visit-related issues you may have.

Pre-Visit Guidelines & Instructions

Pre-Visit Requirements

  • Complete & submit the Visitor Information Form
  • Submit your seminar title
  • Submit an electronic copy of the paper your presentation is based on (this will be posted on our website with the advertisement for your seminar)

Upon receipt of this information your Seminar Coordinator will make the local arrangements for your visit including on-campus parking and accommodations. You will receive the details for your visit via email approximately 2-3 business days prior to your arrival.

Transportation to and from the airport is at your disgression. We strongly encourage you to make airport shuttle arrangements with Access Shuttle Co. or Advanced Shuttle prior to your arrival to ensure the most cost effecitve method of transfer possible.

Additional Guidelines for Non-U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents

If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident please review and submit these additional documents as necessary:

  • A copy of the biographical page of your passport
  • A copy of the U.S. entry stamp from your passport
  • A copy of the I-94 document received upon entry in the U.S. (this can be submitted upon arrival if necessary)
    • Canadian & Mexican Residents: if you do not receive an I-94 upon entry to the U.S. please inform your Seminar Coordinator
  • Travelers entering the U.S. on a B2 or Waiver for Tourists (WT) Visa: complete & submit the Certification of Academic Activity

Reimbursements

UC San Diego policy requires all original receipts be submitted within 30 days of travel.

To request reimbursement for approved expenses please:

  • Compile original receipts for approved expenses (see guidelines on the Visitor Information Form)
    • Include boarding passes if airfare receipt does not indicate the full itinerary (including arrival/departure times)
  • Mail all documentation to:
