Kuali IRB Access

This information is to prepare graduate students on maintaining access to Kuali IRB when they are not actively employed by UC San Diego.

Currently, Kuali IRB is only accessible to UC San Diego employees. In a quarter when a graduate student is not employed, typically the summer months, access to Kuali IRB will not be possible through UCSD Active Directory credentials. 

In those situations, students will need to reach out to the Economics Department Security Administrator (DSA), using the DSA Lookup Tool. This will create a temporary affiliate account which will act as credentials for Kuali IRB while access via Active Directory is not possible.

When UCSD employment resumes, you may access Kuali IRB via your Active Directory credentials once again. 

It is recommended that prior to the quarter of non-employment, you contact the DSA to allow for sufficient processing time to activate your affiliate account. This will help to reduce gaps in your access. The Department of Economics recommends that you initiate this process no later than two weeks before the end of the quarter in which you are employed.
