What can be salvaged from crypto winter? Will central banks issue their own digital currencies, and how would such a monetary system work? Hyun Song Shin is the Economic Adviser and Head of Research of the Bank for International Settlements and co-leads the Monetary and Economic Department. Before he took up his current position in May 2014, he was the Hughes-Rogers Professor of Economics at Princeton University, having previously held appointments at Oxford University and the London School of Economics. He has been an intellectual leader in the fields of banking, international finance and monetary economics, topics on which he has published widely, both in leading academic and official publications.

Elaine Buckberg is Chief Economist of General Motors. She previously served as a principal at the Brattle Group, a deputy assistant secretary with the U.S. Treasury Department, senior vice president at NERA Economic Consulting, and staff economist at the International Monetary Fund. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from MIT.

What factors led to the resurgence of U.S. inflation? Is higher inflation here to stay? David Wilcox is the director of U.S. economic research at Bloomberg Economics, and a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. He previously served as director of the Division of Research and Statistics for the Federal Reserve Board and senior advisor to three successive chairs of the Federal Reserve. He also was previously Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the Treasury Department and a staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisors.
