Lee Ohanian
Professor of Economics, UCLA
352 companies moved their headquarters from California to other states in the last three years. How much did economic policies and the high cost of housing in California contribute to this exodus, and what could the state do to address these problems? Lee Ohanian is Distinguished Professor of Economics and Director of the Ettinger Family Program in Macroeconomic Research at UCLA. He has published widely in the leading economics journals and has been an adviser to several different Federal Reserve Banks and foreign central banks. His research has been discussed in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and many other media outlets. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rochester.

With over 1.4 Billion people, India will soon be the largest country in the world by population. India is also the world's largest democracy, and recently completed 75 years since Independence. This talk by Karthik Muralidharan will present an overview of India at 75, and discuss key challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. Prof. Muralidharan is one of the world's leading experts on the Indian economy and is the Tata Chancellor's Professor of Economics at UC San Diego. Born and raised in India, he received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a Fellow and Board Member of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development, a Board member and co-chair of the Education program at the Jameel Poverty Action Lab, and an affiliate of several global research organizations.

President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland
Loretta J. Mester is president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. In that role, she participates in the formulation of U.S. monetary policy and oversees more than 1,000 employees based at the Bank’s Cleveland office and Branch offices in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh who conduct economic research, supervise banking institutions, promote community development, and provide payment services to depository institutions and the U.S. Treasury. Mester represents the Fourth District on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC). She is an adjunct professor of finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University.

Is sustainability risk priced into stock-market valuations? Robert Engle received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2003 for his contributions to measuring risk and what it means for investors. He taught for many years at the University of California at San Diego where he was Chancellor's Associates Professor of Economics and subsequently at the New York University Stern School of Business. He is currently Co-Director of the NYU Stern Volatility and Risk Institute.
